Jitesh Mistry

JITESH MISTRY was called to the bar in 2006 and has provided legal advice and advocacy to unions and employees since then with an established union side labour law firm.

Jitesh has represented public- and private-sector unions, associations and employees in collective agreement arbitrations, Labour Relations Board applications, human rights tribunal hearings, as well as in trials, chambers applications and judicial review applications in all levels of Court, including the B.C. Supreme Court, the B.C. Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Canada and the Supreme Court of Canada. Jitesh's practice also includes representing non-unionized employees in both wrongful dismissal and human rights proceedings.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Jitesh completed his B.A. and M.A. in Political Science at Simon Fraser University and worked for NDP Government Caucus Communications in the British Columbia Legislative Assembly.

Jitesh attended law school at the University of British Columbia, graduating in 2005. At UBC Law, Jitesh was co-awarded the Raymond Herbert Award as the Best All-Round graduating student, as well as the Blakes Prize in Labour Law, the Hon. Thomas Dohm Scholarship and the silver medal in the ICODR international business mediation competition.

Jitesh is a member of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers and a member of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA). He currently serves on the Executive of the CBA (B.C.) Labour Subsection.

Jitesh has served on the Executive Board of the South Asian Bar Association of B.C. (SABA-BC) and also acted as the Labour Law member on the SABA-BC Practice Advisory Committee.
